Going On A Trip ...
So buying luggage is one thing I hate to do. Call me crazy but buying suitcases and garment bags is ... boring. So I'm an in and out girl and I make sure I buy classic pieces so I don't have to update every year. (Yes, I do have a friend who buys 'the latest' in luggage fashion every year. Love her but she's nuts. Anyway!) So what happened over the weekend? Yeah, I learned that our old pieces didn't quiiiite make it through the move. They weren't hard sided and at some point in the moving truck they hit something sharp and ... yeah. Dead. Blah. So now I'm looking for good deals on Samsonite luggage so we don't have that problem again. I figure if an elephant can step on a Samsonite suitcase (do you remember that commercial, too?) the suitcases will be safe with clumsy, clutzy me and hubster on vacation in a few weeks.

Going Back. Ack!
I've thought many times, and talked about it here, of going back to school to get my masters ... and maybe go into higher education at some point. Not that I don't like freelancing but there are times when I do miss 'going' to work, interacting with my peers face to face. You know the drill, and until you've worked from home a few years and done most of your conversing over the phone or through email you just can't understand how lonely it can be. Rewarding, too, but lonely from time to time.
Anyway I just started researching several online campuses and found St. Xavier's MS Curriculum, which is exactly what I've been looking for. The most impressive thing about their program, for me, is the flexibility. I could seriously take a 'full load' and be done within two years and not have cut back at all on the freelancing. Which is great for my family because the hubster and I won't have to pinch pennies while I finish up the degree. Most other course plans would require cutting back by at least 25%, which is nearly impossible with today's economy. Talk about pinching pennies - and dimes and quarters! So being able to go back and work that around my existing schedule is perfect for me! Plus I can see a couple of article/seminar ideas that could lead to a few more contacts in the writing field.
I still need to do a little more research but for now, St. X's is looking like the place for me.
